Getting ready for the "alien sighting"

Chloe will be having an ambulatory EEG done starting tomorrow. She'll have 41 electrodes placed on her head and neck and she'll have to wear the whole gamit for 24 hours. She's excited because the Dr said she'll look like an alien with all the wires attached to her head. I just hope she'll get some sleep with all those things poking and proding her. :(
I'll post a picture of my "alien child" after she's all set up. It should be interesting!

Getting through the rough spots...

Well January has been an interesting month so far! Chloe turned 7!! And then a few days after her birthday she was admitted to the hospital for 4 days. It was a bit scary because they transferred her 1 block from her peds office to the hospital by ambulance and then admitted her into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She was there for about 10 hours and then was transferred to a regular room... thank heavens!

After she was discharged it took her almost a week for her body to recover. She was on only clear liquids and very little energy for abotu 5 days. Then she was able to start back on bland foods and in gradually increasing from there. This is been quite the ordeal for her. No food... only drinking... very litle food. Needless to day she's dropped 8 lbs. :(

The good news is we have a new pediatrician on her case who has been a breath of fresh air! She has already contacted all the Dr's that have worked with Chloe over the past few years and gotten a very thorough history and picture of all that's been going on. She's contacted the heads of departments at OHSU to get some more insight and more envolvement. She feels, like we do that it's been too long with no answer and it's time to get one!

Her next big thing is a 24 hour EEG next week. She's excited to "look like an alien" for a couple days. I guess it's good she's looking at it positively!
